AL FISHER: Associate and Survey
Consultant
Quote:
“Our function is to present vox populi to top
management.”
Mantra/Philosophy:
“Provide consulting services and conduct surveys to
improve human resource development.”
With a keen insight to human nature and more than two
decades experience designing custom surveys for
associations and nonprofit organizations, Al delivers
targeted surveys that get to the heart of your needs for
data and administration.
Since ASI Inc.’s inception in 1986, Al has designed and
conducted tailor-made surveys that help stakeholders
pinpoint requirements for new CEO’s, reveal valuable
employee attitudes and opinions, and provide member
input for new strategic plans. His surveys move
organizations toward a better understanding of
themselves and the environment in which they operate.
From professional and trade associations to non-profits
and private enterprises such as parks and museums, Al
absorbs your unique organizational culture to help you
unravel the path to the future.
For executive search and transition, Al’s surveys probe
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges to
go beyond the nuts and bolts of the CEO position and
help an organization discover its long-term goals and
mission. “The surveys are a good way of collecting that
kind of information and feeding it back to everyone,” he
says, “including the new executive so all are onboard
with what the stakeholders expect from their
organization.”
Before becoming an independent consultant in 1983, Al
was a management consultant on HR topics to private and
public sector organizations, including state, national
and international organizations. The deep knowledge of
workplace and corporate issues he gained from that
experience is among Al’s greatest assets for clients.
Whether it’s helping a 100-surgeon medical school figure
out how to keep academic surgeons productive and
satisfied despite job stress (answer: provide good
rewards, recognition and fairness) or redefining the
elements of successful CEO transition for your
particular organization, Al does it.
Al’s extensive technical acumen first blossomed when he
helped automate manpower assignment systems for the US
armed services, conduct worldwide surveys for the
Department of Defense, and analyze executive
compensation factors for the World Bank/IMF. Al combines
creativity with expertise in sampling design, data
collection, tabulation, statistical analysis and report
presentations to deliver what you need in the form you
need it. Some of his greatest successes include creating
an automated system to tabulate and report survey
results on best practices for dentists, and designing
innovative e-mail job satisfaction surveys.
In addition to his surveys, Al also keeps ASI, Inc. on
top of OD trends by researching topics such as
strategies for success for CEO’s, successful governance
strategies, and staff development practices, and the
benefits and drawbacks of creating co-CEOs from the next
generation of managers.
Al holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Purdue University,
M.S. from Iowa State and B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan. He is
a member of the American Psychological Association,
American Marketing Association and American Statistical
Association.
