The National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL), a
professional membership association committed to promoting the
integrity of the municipal market by advancing the understanding
of and compliance with the law affecting public finance, seeks a
Chief Operating Officer (COO) to enhance internal organization
processes and infrastructure that will allow NABL to continue to
grow and fulfill its mission. Primary responsibilities include
all aspects of financial management and oversight, human
resources and operations. Initial primary responsibility of the
COO will be completing the implementation of an office
consolidation (combining the Chicago office with the D.C.
office), including development of a staffing plan and
recruitment of necessary staff. Reporting directly to the Board
of Directors, the Chief Operating Officer is a peer to the
Director of Governmental Affairs, manages a current staff of 6
and a $2M+ budget.
Requirements and Qualifications
Qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, MBA
preferred. Strong operational experience, preferably a minimum
of 10 years nonprofit or trade association experience with a
minimum of 4 years senior operational/administrative management
experience. Demonstrated experience in financial planning and
analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources and
operations, information technology, meeting planning, leases and
other contract documents is required. The successful candidate
has strong organizational and people skills, is flexible, and
able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Seek individual to coordinate and oversee industry advocacy efforts at state and federal levels; manage daily operations of the Association and Foundation; represent them to regulatory agencies, legislators and other entities (e.g., Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), MedPAC, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care); strengthen the organizations’ voice at the national level; serve as the champion for the growth and visibility of the ambulatory surgery industry; and foster alliances and collaboration with state associations, corporate/industry entities and physician specialty medical societies. Seek individual to represent ASHP’s mission, interests and activities to the public and key stakeholders, both domestically and internationally; advocate to influence outcomes of healthcare initiatives in both private- and public-sector healthcare organizations; build effective relationships with federal regulators and agencies (e.g., CMS, FDA, JC), national quality organizations ( e.g., NQF, AHRQ), pharmacy-related organizations (e.g., ACPE, APhA, NCPDP) and international pharmacy organizations; and manage the staff and daily operations of ASHP and the ASHP Foundation. Candidates must be licensed pharmacists; a master’s or other advance degree is strongly preferred. Candidates also must have a minimum of 10 years of executive/managerial experience in and/or demonstrated knowledge of hospitals or healthcare systems or other non-profit organization; ability to build consensus among diverse constituencies; an understanding of global opportunities to advance an organization’s leadership position; and demonstrated financial acumen and management skills.
