MARY SUE HIMPLER: Director
Recruiting and Operations
Quote:
“Nothing is cookie cutter. Sometimes you start looking
and you have to take another route, do a little more
digging. It’s good for the client to know that I know
it’s not one size fits all.”
Mantra/Philosophy:
“You can accomplish much if you don’t care who gets the
credit. You want to see a good product, a positive
result. “
Mary Sue is often the first point of contact in a
client’s search. She gets the ball rolling by mining
databases and working the company’s contacts to create a
rich field of potential candidates. Working closely with
Pamela and Jim, Mary Sue draws on her two decades as a
search professional to tap sources, create targeted
advertising and assure that potential candidates match
the client’s needs. Focused and attentive to detail, she
also coordinates candidate background checks.
Mary Sue launched her executive search career in 1988 as
Executive Employment Administrator for the American
Society of Association Executives, where she scouted
candidates, conducted interviews, confirmed references,
wrote profiles and fully managed executive level
searches for a wide range of non-profit, healthcare and
philanthropic associations. She also developed teams of
association executives to provide peer review on
critical management areas within a given organization.
Her depth of experience at ASAE paved the way for her
later success as an independent consultant, where she
conceived and conducted dozens of management and
administrative searches.
When she wears her operations hat at Association
Strategies, Inc., Mary Sue coordinates contracts, billing and
invoices, and generally makes sure the office has the
tools to get the job done. As a team member since 1994,
Mary Sue has covered every aspect of the company’s
business, from conducting searches to assembling
compensation surveys, from identifying candidates to
conducting interviews and writing profiles. She brings a
unique understanding of ASI’s processes from start to
finish.
Mary Sue holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer
Economics and Business from the State University of New
York at Oneonta.
