PAMELA KAUL: President and Founder
Quote:
“A committee can make a decision in a matter of hours,
but the consequences of that decision are felt for years
to come. There’s a lot at stake for the organization and
the candidate as they take that walk down the aisle.
Results are important but it’s about the journey as
well. ”
Mantra/Philosophy:
“To make every client feel like our only client.”
Accreditations/Affiliations: Founding Member, National
Non-Profit Search Consultants; Nominating Committee,
SCORE; industry advisor to several national boards and
committees.
Pamela’s passion and commitment make Association
Strategies what it is: the leader in guiding
organizations through succession, transition and change.
Pamela offers three decades of experience in executive
search, transition management and organization
development. She pioneered ASI’s unique, systems-based
approach to executive search, and since founding the
company in 1986 has successfully applied it to deliver
top-notch talent to hundreds of leading associations,
foundations and philanthropic institutions. A recognized
specialist in organizational assessment and development
programs, Pamela has piloted dozens of clients through
CEO and Board organizational assessments, Board
recruitment, and paradigm shifts requiring cultural
sensitivity and awareness of the uniqueness of
individual environments.
Whether the organization seeks a change agent interim
executive or the need to replace an organization’s
founder or long-term leader, these are difficult tasks –
and Pamela’s specialty. Before identifying candidates,
Pamela and her team probe the client’s needs – and
sacred cows -- through comprehensive surveys,
stakeholder interviews and time and attention to detail.
We develop a profile that integrates the current
operating environment with a look toward the future.
After 13 years leading HRD, business operations
divisions’ major change efforts for Washington-based
associations, Pamela launched her executive search
career in 1982 with a national recruiting firm. Wooed by
the firm to open and staff a new division, Pamela
successfully expanded its practice into the non-profit
arena. Pamela was also instrumental in launching an
executive search and consulting services division for
another nonprofit organization that immediately opened
up new revenue streams for the organization. For nearly
two years she was a member of ASAE’s executive
management team retained to launch an HRD program and a
transition in staff culture.
Recognized as a leader in the field, Pamela is a
frequent keynote speaker for business and professional
organizations and a regular presenter at universities,
and many other national meetings and conferences. A
former columnist for Associations Now, previously
Association Management magazine, Pamela has also written
on career management, executive search and interviewing
skills and succession planning. She is the author of
“Orientation, Training, and Development,” a chapter in
ASAE’s Authoritative Guide, Managing Human Resources in
Associations.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications
from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN.
